It is a golden period for the gujarati film industry. Yes I prefer to call it that instead of the horrible names “DHOLLYWOOD” and “GOLLYWOOD”. Is it mandatory to copy everything from the United States? Coming back, the Gujarati film industry is witnessing a phase like never before. It all started with the “Chetan Bhagat of the Gujarati Film industry”, i.e Abhishek Jain. His 2 films opened a door of vast opportunities and soon everyone followed suit. The latest offering is Kirtan Patel’s “Bas Ek Chance”. Now this is a special film because apart from it being a gujarati film, it is also the first mainstream film to be almost entirely shot in my city Vadodara. Let us have a look at the music of the film which has been composed by Pranav – Nikhil – Shailesh.     “ LAAGI RE LAGAN ” starts off with soft guitar riffs and a lovely female chorus which reminds you remotely of “Jab se tere naina”. Looking at their current form, Sachin and Jigar are one of the most successful composers in the last year. After the immensely well made “Happy Ending” and “Badlapur” and a top notch Gujarati album “Bey Yaar”, they gave us a brilliant episode of MTV unplugged and then finally Coke Studio and LAADKI. It remains to be seen how they fare with ABCD 2 as they team up the third time with Remo D’souza. The first movie had a highly successful run at the music charts. Let us see how the sequel fares. “BEZUBAAN PHIR SE” is aptly titled. The composers re utilize their most successful song from ABCD. This time however, the honey voiced Mohit Chauhan is replaced by a full throttled Vishal Dadlani. And he completely owns the song. The rap portions as well as the other parts are sung brilliantly by him. Joining him is Madhav Krishna who floors you with his rendition of the title loop. Raj and DK are back again with their 4 th venture. After the success of “Go Goa Gone”, they team up once again with Saif Ali Khan and Illuminati films. Sachin Jigar have had a phenomenal record with the director duo. Saibo was their career – turning song, and then with “Go goa Gone”, they created one of the wackiest and craziest soundtracks ever! So naturally, expectations are sky high with the soundtrack of “Happy Ending”. The promos suggest this to be a fun film. And with Saif and Govinda, it is quite obvious. “MILEYA MILEYA” is a breezy and lovely track. With some beautiful arrangements, the song entices us right from the beginning. With a catchy beat and claps, Priya Andrews starts the song. She is soon joined by (Surprise surprise!) Rekha Bhardwaj in a never-heard-before avatar. Sachin and Jigar have had a wonderful year uptil now. First the awesome ABCD, then the wacky Go Goa Gone and then the simple Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Now they make a BIG leap as they bag a Yashraj movie. With the promos smelling totally fresh, let us take a look at the music of the movie. "Tere mere beech mein" holds your attention from the first second. We are treated to a collage of sounds- boys echoing "dado mujhe de chhokro", the hustle bustle of traffic, that cycle ki ghanti and that rickshaw ka bhopu backed by nice guitar riffs. There is a sweet whistle playing too. Finally all these sounds give way to Sunidhi Chauhan's voice. Along with Mohit Chauhan, she sings this dialogue-like song with finesse. Mohit lends ample support, his voice sounding good as always, especially in the higher notes. But for the first time he is not the dominating singer. It is Sunidhi who owns the song and Mohit who pitches in at regular intervals- an arrangement for which the comp...

So Sachin – Jigar pair up for the second time with director Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K after their last film “Shor in the city”. It must be remembered that Sachin – Jigar became a household name after “Saibo”. So let us see that what they bring for us this time. With a film like “Go Goa Gone” which looks insane, mad and fun, let us see what the music has to offer in this “Zom-com”. “SLOWLY SLOWLY” is already a rage. With a retro beginning to the song, this techno party song is total madness. Be it Talia Bentson’s “Aisa na kar na kar na kar na kar na kar mere yaar…” or the “Slowly slowly” chant, the song is an ingenius mix of beats, techno arrangements and creativity. And the lyrics – it takes balls to use such lyrics (Take a bow Priya Saraiya) which are outrageous and yet sound perfect for such a song. It is strange why some narrow minded idiot hasn’t yet opposed the song’s lyrics. In any case, I don’t care. The song is mindblowing, and that is all what matters. ...

There are few movies which have a soundtrack as an aide to the script. While there are few movies which heavily rely on the soundtrack. The most recent example of this is “ROCKSTAR” – a film which needed an extraordinary soundtrack, and that is just what Rahman gave. Touted as India’s first dance film, director Remo D’souza goes a step further to make it in 3D. He also ropes in some of the country’s finest choreographers and dancers. And finally to make sure that there is someone who can act, we have Kay Kay Menon. And then there is Prabhudeva. Now this movie needs a great soundtrack – something which can provide ample opportunity for these dancers to show off their skills on screen, and at the same time sound good to the ears. After his first bolly movie “FALTU”, Remo once again ropes in the extremely talented and “under rated” Sachin – Jigar.
