  In Hollywood, we have the MCU, i.e the MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE. Over these few years, I have realized that Bollywood has a different universe of its own, which I would like to call the "Basu Cinematic Universe". This consists of films by Anurag Basu which literally transport you to another world. These are films which are by no means perfect or flawless. These are films which are not at all relateable. At times, there is no logic to a few sequences. Like the old cartoons or English comedy sitcoms of the 1990s. however, I will anyday prefer these to the slapstick illogical comedies in Bollywood. Indian cinema has always had a strong desire to portray disabilities on screen. While 99% of such films are dull and message oriented, there are a few directors who prove that such people don’t always mean gloom. And so we have Anurag Basu taking us in the life of Murphy. For three hours he transports us into a world which is literally a fairy tale. Such is the beauty of the final product that I actually felt like not leaving the cinema hall; staying a little more in Barfi and Jhilmil’s world. Have you ever felt irritated by the beginning credits of a film? The ones which go like – “Special thanks to…”, “Media partners”, “Publicity partners“, and the names of thousand other brands which might have played a miniscule role in the film? There have been many speculations as to why is anurag basu's latest movie named BARFI. Well, few days ago I came up with an interesting theory which i thought i should share with you. I initially shared it with  @dunkdaft (owner of www.dunkdaft.com) who also felt that this could be a possibility. however i wasn't too sure whether this was a true assumption or just a mere weird idea of my brain. finally today i decided to post it.  Ranbir kapoor is named MURPHY in the movie. Now from what i've learnt as a doctor, a mute person does have little speech, but the way he pronounces words is different. This is mainly because when we speak, we use our lips, tongue and our palate. By combining these three, we produce sounds and various syllables like M, B, P, T, etc. Each syllable is produced by different combinations of touching of the above 3 mentiones structures. Anurag basu’s films have always been associated with good music, be it with the balaji telefilms (Kucch toh hai), or the Bhatts (murder, tumsa nahin dekha, gangster, saaya) or the roshans (Kites) or with UTV (Life in a metro). Even his teleserial “Love story” boasted of some brilliant songs which are a rage on the internet even today.
