Raj and DK are back again with their 4 th venture. After the success of “Go Goa Gone”, they team up once again with Saif Ali Khan and Illuminati films. Sachin Jigar have had a phenomenal record with the director duo. Saibo was their career – turning song, and then with “Go goa Gone”, they created one of the wackiest and craziest soundtracks ever! So naturally, expectations are sky high with the soundtrack of “Happy Ending”. The promos suggest this to be a fun film. And with Saif and Govinda, it is quite obvious. “MILEYA MILEYA” is a breezy and lovely track. With some beautiful arrangements, the song entices us right from the beginning. With a catchy beat and claps, Priya Andrews starts the song. She is soon joined by (Surprise surprise!) Rekha Bhardwaj in a never-heard-before avatar. Nikhil Advani is one of those rare directors whose films have always boasted of brilliant music – Kal ho na ho, Salaam-e-ishq, and the recent Patiala House. Even Chandni Chowk to China had the gorgeous “Tere naina”. In short, his movies have always had quality chartbuster stuff. And the people responsible for this have always been the same – Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. D-Day looks very promising from its promos. However, one doesn’t know what really to expect from the music, as there seems less scope for music here. Yet, let us take a look at the album of D-Day. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is an album and movie I am eagerly looking forward to. Firstly it is directed by Ayan Mukerjee whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with before his debut movie released, and secondly because his first movie “Wake up Sid” is one of my all time favorite movies. This time instead of SEL and Amit Trivedi, he ropes in Pritam to compose the music. “BADTAMEEZ DIL” is instant chartbuster material. Right from the immensely catchy tune to the superb singing by Benny Dayal and Shefali Alvaris, the song will appeal instantly. The USP however is the fabulous lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. They are hilarious, innovative and deserve applause. Notice how he intelligently uses the phrase “Gilli Gilli Akkha” from the old song “Yeh Jawaani hai deewani”. Horror is not a genre Vishal Bhardwaj is exploring for the first time. He gave us the lovely childrens’ horror film “Makdee” few years back. This time however he only produces this one rather than directing it too. From the two trailers released till now, it is clear that this one is damn scary. Let us see what kind of music this movie offers – after all, it is again the magical Vishal – Gulzar duo at work. And we even have Suresh Wadkar this time. “YAARAM” belongs to those beautiful romantic tracks Vishal Bhardwaj composes. With Sunidhi Chauhan at her melodious best and a soulful rendition by Clinton Cerejo, this one has a superb tune backed by some excellent arrangements. The real star of the song is the lyrics. Now the lyrics are definitely oscar material. Infact few people might love the use of such words which we use in daily life, while few might cringe at the lyrics. You are not wrong if you have mammoth expectations from the music of “Matru ki bijlee ka mandola”, primarily because of two names – Gulzar and Vishal Bhardwaj; or more importantly these two coming together.   They literally create magic on screen – no exaggeration. With a rural backdrop for this dark comedy, let us see what the duo has in store for us. “MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA” – the title song is just perfect. The song which had already got me hooked with its appearance in the trailer will make you dance – guaranteed. With addictive beats and an even more addictive tune and loop, Sukhwinder Singh is just the apt choice for this song. Anurag basu’s films have always been associated with good music, be it with the balaji telefilms (Kucch toh hai), or the Bhatts (murder, tumsa nahin dekha, gangster, saaya) or the roshans (Kites) or with UTV (Life in a metro). Even his teleserial “Love story” boasted of some brilliant songs which are a rage on the internet even today.
