I call him the John Grisham of India, and the Madhur Bhandarkar of the banking world. Like Madhur, Ravi Subramanian exposed the blatant truth of the banking world, the corruption & the bureaucracy. But there is a BIG difference between Ravi and Madhur. Madhur kept on repeating the same subject in his films, leading to all of his recent ones being disasters. If you think about it, for a doctor and surgeon like me, banking related novels are part of a way different genre. But there has always been something about Ravi Subramanian which has made me love all his novels. I started my association with Blogadda by reviewing Ravi’s novel. So this time when they offered a copy of “God is a Gamer” for review, I HAD to get it. And despite the heavy schedule, I easily finished the novel in 3 days. PLOT Like all his previous novels, this one too revolves around the NYIB New York International Bank. To describe the whole plot would be almost impossible. Thrillers have always been my favorite genre. And so it was natural that the backpage synopsis of “The Bankster” interested me. I’ve read Ravi Subramanian’s “Devil in Pinstripes” and found it very engaging. It was the first time I had read anything related to the world of banking, and Ravi’s detailed description made it an enjoyable read. Naturally I had huge expectations from him. Here’s my review of his latest novel “The Bankster”. Genre – Banking thriller (I call this genre BANKLER.) PLOT – We are introduced to 3 stories right from the beginning – In Angola, we witness a deal consisting of arms and diamonds. Simultaneously a second story is woven. This one set in kerala tracks the development of a nuclear power plant and the forces opposing it.
