Three years back, the trio of MAA (Motwane – Amit - Amitabh) gave me one of my most favorite albums of all times – UDAAN. And so it is just natural to have humongous expectations from the soundtrack of Motwane’s next outing – LOOTERA. Let us see how Amit Trivedi fares in giving a score for this period movie. “SAWAAR LOON“ is as extraordinary as any song can get. The wonderful beat of dholak set as the backing rhythm coupled with Amit Trivedi’s improvisations with the mouth get the mood perfectly right for an old time song. And then there is the real star of the song – Monali Thakur. She not only is brilliant with her vocals but she also gets to sing a song which is easily the best of her career. Her voice evokes the romance, the melody and the soothing feeling perfectly. Also, Amitabh Bhattacharya does a fab job with the lyrics. Brilliant! Very rarely there comes a movie which tugs your heart even before it has released. “Kai Po che” is one such film. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel “The 3 mistakes of my life”, I am BADLY looking forward to it, mainly because – It is directed by Abhishek Kapoor whose last film “Rock on” was a brilliant one – classy and one of my all time favorites. The film is based in my state GUJARAT , and it is indeed a proud feeling believe me; seeing the picturesque locales of Diu and other places. The first trailer of the film – it was everything I had expected – reminiscent of Dil chahta hai in a big way. It is one of the finest trailers to have come out in a long time. Infact, if I make a list of my ten all time favorite films, Tum Bin would find a place among them. And Dia Mirza – I’m already head over heels on her. She is one of the most naturally beautiful actresses on screen today no doubt. When Pratim Gupta brings these two together, it must be something nice. And so out of sheer curiosity, I watched the first trailer of “Paanch Adhyay”. While I am stunned by the beautiful Dia mirza, I can’t help but notice the song portions playing in the background. On checking, I found out that Shantanu moitra had given the music. And so for the first time in my life, I (A gujju) heard a Bengali soundtrack. Anurag basu’s films have always been associated with good music, be it with the balaji telefilms (Kucch toh hai), or the Bhatts (murder, tumsa nahin dekha, gangster, saaya) or the roshans (Kites) or with UTV (Life in a metro). So finally one of the most talked about shows comes to an end. Love him, or hate him, Aamir khan certainly took people by storm, at times due to his topics, at times due to his fees (allegedly 3 crore per episode), and also due to his supposedly genuine emotional outbursts on the show. He brought up topics which we all were aware of. But then India is a funny country. People prefer to listen to Aamir khan rather than Anoop Soni. Among all these controversies, one man silently gradually carved some of his best works. I’m talking about Ram Sampath. For a man who has been in this industry since more than 15 years, who gave us the lovely KHAKEE and the recent DELHI BELLY, this show has escalated him to new heights.
