MUSIC REVIEW : KAAFIRON KI NAMAAZ

This film intrigued me from the moment I saw its first promo. I still remember the facebook contest regarding the film’s music. Since then I had been waiting expectantly for the music. And since the tracklist released few days back, the anticipation has only grown further. I made it a point not to listen to the single track released few days back, because I wanted to hear the full album at once. And finally it is there. “AAYATEIN” is the same mesmerizing aalaap which appeared in the film’s trailer. Sung by the Malyalam reality show winner Najim Arshad, this one is pure divinity. Najim Arshad’s voice is superb. But when one was a full fledged long aalaap, the song gets over! With a running time of just 54 seconds, this one mesmerizes you during every single second. How I wish it would have been longer. “SAWAALON KI GOD MEIN” finally showcases Najim Arshad’s immensely soulful voice to the fullest. With some out of the world saarangi and some haunting chorus, this...

MUSIC REVIEW : PAANCH ADHYAY (BENGALI)

(You can listen to the songs HERE ) (As for the lyrics,  click HERE ) I’ve always liked Priyanshu Chatterjee right from his first film “Tum Bin”. Infact, if I make a list of my ten all time favorite films, Tum Bin would find a place among them. And Dia Mirza – I’m already head over heels on her. She is one of the most naturally beautiful actresses on screen today no doubt. When Pratim Gupta brings these two together, it must be something nice. And so out of sheer curiosity, I watched the first trailer of “Paanch Adhyay”. While I am stunned by the beautiful Dia mirza, I can’t help but notice the song portions playing in the background. On checking, I found out that Shantanu moitra had given the music. And so for the first time in my life, I (A gujju) heard a Bengali soundtrack. Now the closest I’ve been to a Bengali soundtrack is “Raincoat” and “Devdas”. That is my remotest link to Bengali music. I’ve still tried to review all the songs. As they say, t...

Music review Don 2

Zara dil ko thaam lo, because the king is back.. After one of the slickest action flicks bollywood has ever witnessed in the form of don, farhan akhtar is back wit DON 2. As always, the very dependable trio shankar-ehsaan-loy are behind the helm of affairs in the music department. But do they deliver yet again? Let's see. Before any singers step in, SRK himself starts the album with one of his dialogues from the movie. What a novel way to begin the audio track of a sequel. Classy! Anusha mani and vishal dadlani deliver ZARA DIL KO THAAM LO perfectly. While anusha's haunting vocals go perfectly in sync with the mood of the song, it is the sinister-sounding vishal who aces the track. This song is tailor-made for the guy. If there's anyone who is making vishal deliver hit after hit, it is not vishal shekhar. It is S-E-L. HAI YE MAAYA starts off in a similar fashion as the previous track.but woah, you are in for a surprise- USHA UTHUP. Not at all unfamiliar with this genre, she ...
