MUSIC REVIEW : GO GOA GONE!

So Sachin – Jigar pair up for the second time with director Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K after their last film “Shor in the city”. It must be remembered that Sachin – Jigar became a household name after “Saibo”. So let us see that what they bring for us this time. With a film like “Go Goa Gone” which looks insane, mad and fun, let us see what the music has to offer in this “Zom-com”.

“SLOWLY SLOWLY” is already a rage. With a retro beginning to the song, this techno party song is total madness. Be it Talia Bentson’s “Aisa na kar na kar na kar na kar na kar mere yaar…” or the “Slowly slowly” chant, the song is an ingenius mix of beats, techno arrangements and creativity. And the lyrics – it takes balls to use such lyrics (Take a bow Priya Saraiya) which are outrageous and yet sound perfect for such a song. It is strange why some narrow minded idiot hasn’t yet opposed the song’s lyrics. In any case, I don’t care. The song is mindblowing, and that is all what matters.

It is a common trend to see people whining about a Monday morning. This has particularly increased post the advent of twitter. But never in my wildest dreams did I think there would be a song one day describing it. And so we have the OFFICIAL “MONDAY ANTHEM” or "KHOON CHOOS LE".
The song begins with that ever familiar noise of those pigeons which sit on top of your AC window and create a ruckus. Sung by Arjun Kanungo, Suraj Jagan and Priya Saraiya, this one is as trippy as the first track. The song instantly reminds you of “Karma is a bitch” from “Shor in the city”, especially the “Rrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrr” portion (Ultimate stuff).
Any guesses who the lyricist is? Well, there is only one person who can write such stuff – the great Amitabh Bhattacharya. Kahaan se laate ho aap ye sab sir jee? KAHAAN SE?

“BABAJI KI BOOTI” can be easily titled the “COUGH SONG”. sung by *cough cough* Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya, this is one of the *cough cough* most hilarious songs to have come out in recent times. And the one man to whom this song belongs is once again Amitabh Bhattacharya – he is outstanding. Do listen to *cough cough* this awesome song and just marvel at the genius of Amitabh Bhattacharya.

“Who dekh, who kya hai? Panchhi hai kya?
Naa re pagle, plane hai.
Arey dekh underwear baahar hai, Superman hai.
NAA, THAT IS BABAJI.”

“KHUSHAMDEED” is simplicity and beauty personified. No, it is not the next “Saibo” – don’t go with those expectations and you will fall in love with the song. shreya Ghoshal’s mesmerizing vocals and Priya Saraiya’s lovely lyrics make this a sweet, simple and soothing romantic track. Wonder where they will place it in the movie.

“I KEEL DEAD PEEPAL” is a techno version of the dialogues which appeared in the first trailer of the movie. And so we hear Saif Ali Khan saying “WHATH?” in a hilarious manner and then ending the short musical theme with “Haan Delhi se hoon @#$%&…”
A fitting  end to the album.

OVERALL, the soundtrack of “Go Goa Gone” is in one word – INSANE. It is totally madness all the way. Trippy, high on creativity and excellent! Take a big bow Sachin, Jigar, Priya Saraiya and Amitabh Bhattacharya – This is a team effort and a superlative one!

MY RATINGS – 8.75 / 10

P.S – I don’t know if anyone of you made this observation. I don’t even know if it is supposed to be an observation, but here’s what I noticed. I may be wrong though – To all those musicians and piano lovers, remember your first ever casio? The one that had different tunes and sounds numbered from 1 to 100? Well, Sachin Jigar have used many of those sounds here. I heard traces in the first two songs, then in the beginning of “Babaji” also. That was one hell of an idea.

BARFI! - MY THOUGHTS (A PICTORIAL RECOLLECTION)

Indian cinema has always had a strong desire to portray disabilities on screen. While 99% of such films are dull and message oriented, there are a few directors who prove that such people don’t always mean gloom. And so we have Anurag Basu taking us in the life of Murphy. For three hours he transports us into a world which is literally a fairy tale. Such is the beauty of the final product that I actually felt like not leaving the cinema hall; staying a little more in Barfi and Jhilmil’s world. Have you ever felt irritated by the beginning credits of a film? The ones which go like – “Special thanks to…”, “Media partners”, “Publicity partners“, and the names of thousand other brands which might have played a miniscule role in the film? But in Barfi, you never realize when all that finished. Reason? “PICTURE SHURUUUU…. HO GAYI PICTURE SHURU….” This was innovation at its cinematic best. Swanand Kirkire’s witty and apt lines in his own voice make us rapt with attent...

MY REVIEW OF MIRZAPUR SEASON 2

I was a late entrant into the "Mirzapur" weries. Even though it arrived 2 years back, I watched it only a couple of months back during the lockdown. I finally gave in to the immense pressure around, and I couldn’t resist seeing what was so great about the show which led it to become the most successful series in India. And hence, I started watching the first episode of season 1. Shuru majboori mein kiye they, par baad mein jo majaa aaya, I can't describe that. I realized that the hype around the show was totally justified. Also, the makers ended season 1 on such a cliffhanger that it was imperative for everyone to wait so eagerly for season 2. PLOT, DIRECTION & WRITING As I started watching season 2,I slowly realized a few things. This season was way different from the previous one. Gone was the rawness and loudness. The amount of violence shown also seemed much less. Things seemed much more mature. My thoughts were only strengthened as I progressed further.  Season 2...
