Music review : RAAZ 3

Raaz 3 is an important film for the Bhatt camp. Firstly it marks the reunion of vikram bhatt and the bhatt clang. Vikram who had fallen apart, had started his own production banner devoting himself totally to giving horror films- the brilliant 1920, and then Shaapit and haunted 3D. Secondly, the previous 2 raaz films have been successful. Yes,i personally loved even the second part.it had some great performances (that excludes adhyayan suman), good story and good music. MUSIC has always been a trump card for the bhatts, be it mahesh bhatt or vikram bhatt. Let's see what they do here.

" DEEWANA KAR RAHA HAI" is composed by rashid khan. A blatant and direct lift from an egyptian song, this is the best song of the album. Javed ali is as melodious as ever, his voice soothing and trance-like. This song will work, courtesy him and emraan hashmi.

"ZINDAGI SE" sees Shafqat amanat ali singing. After an average song in jannat 2 (TU HI MERA) this song is somewhat similar. A very heard-before tune, shafqat tries to infuse as much energy as possible, but it doesn't work. With beats similar to "Dil ibaadat" (Tum mile), this is one of those countless bhatt-hashmi melodies which are being repeated to the point of irritation now.

"RAFTA RAFTA" is sung by K.K. The song is again nothing to write home about. Full marks to k.k who sings very well, but the highly ordinary tune ruins it.

"OH MY LOVE" is literally a sequel to SONIYO from Raaz-the mystery continues. Everything is the same- the arrangements, the tune and even the singing. Again it is no doubt melodious but didnt work for me. The first five seconds are somewhat similar to the piano tune of "YEH DOORIYAN" (Love aaj kal).

"KYA RAAZ HAI" is that typical situational theme track which you expect to be played in the background at a critical juncture in the movie. With a dark haunting feel to it, this one is not extraordinary, but definitely a welcome change from the previous 3 tracks. Shreya ghoshal's singing especially in the antara is beautiful. Zubeen is good too.

"KHAYAALON MEIN" is again shreya ghoshal's show. A mediocre tune again, but good singing. However i find it difficult to digest the fact that how will such a cheerful song be placed and utilized in such a movie? Let's see.

OVERALL , the music of Raaz 3 comes with a HEAVY HEAVY hangover of the previous bhatt movies. Good in terms of melody, but ZERO in terms of novelty. Jeet ganguli does a very ordinary job, with hardly one song having the potential to become a chartbuster.

ONLY EMRAAN HASHMI CAN SAVE THIS ONE.

MY VERDICT- 5.5 / 10

BARFI! - MY THOUGHTS (A PICTORIAL RECOLLECTION)

Indian cinema has always had a strong desire to portray disabilities on screen. While 99% of such films are dull and message oriented, there are a few directors who prove that such people don’t always mean gloom. And so we have Anurag Basu taking us in the life of Murphy. For three hours he transports us into a world which is literally a fairy tale. Such is the beauty of the final product that I actually felt like not leaving the cinema hall; staying a little more in Barfi and Jhilmil’s world. Have you ever felt irritated by the beginning credits of a film? The ones which go like – “Special thanks to…”, “Media partners”, “Publicity partners“, and the names of thousand other brands which might have played a miniscule role in the film? But in Barfi, you never realize when all that finished. Reason? “PICTURE SHURUUUU…. HO GAYI PICTURE SHURU….” This was innovation at its cinematic best. Swanand Kirkire’s witty and apt lines in his own voice make us rapt with attent...

MY REVIEW OF MIRZAPUR SEASON 2

I was a late entrant into the "Mirzapur" weries. Even though it arrived 2 years back, I watched it only a couple of months back during the lockdown. I finally gave in to the immense pressure around, and I couldn’t resist seeing what was so great about the show which led it to become the most successful series in India. And hence, I started watching the first episode of season 1. Shuru majboori mein kiye they, par baad mein jo majaa aaya, I can't describe that. I realized that the hype around the show was totally justified. Also, the makers ended season 1 on such a cliffhanger that it was imperative for everyone to wait so eagerly for season 2. PLOT, DIRECTION & WRITING As I started watching season 2,I slowly realized a few things. This season was way different from the previous one. Gone was the rawness and loudness. The amount of violence shown also seemed much less. Things seemed much more mature. My thoughts were only strengthened as I progressed further.  Season 2...
