Music review Ferrari ki Sawaari

When i first saw the name of pritam as the music director for fks, i was a little suprised. Vidhu vinod chopra (VVC) have, over the past years developed a fine rapport with shantanu moitra, who has delivered consistently. So i was a little hesitant as to what to expect from this pritam outing. But after finishing listening to the album,i literally wondered- is this really pritam? First to come is the MAUSAMBI song, sung by k.mohan. Some very interesting lyrics, a soothing,easy-on-the-ears tune and nice singing makes this a very good starting track. If promoted well (and i'm sure it will), this one will be a hit. MAARA RE is a highly noisy stadium track.sung well by rana majumdar, aishwarya nigam and aashish, this song as a highly addictive signature chorus tune. The song only gets better with the entry of sonu nigam in the last antara. MALA JAU DE- Meaning Mujhe jaane de in hindi, this one has catchy beats.but didnt work for me. An overdose of item songs this year. Well sung though. I tried liking it,but failed to even after three listenings. I doubt if even vidya balan will make me start liking this song. AE MERE MANN- beautiful piano marks the start of this song. What follows next is pure bliss. Kid shyamantan das with a beautiful voice delivers pritam's fantastic tune bang on.add to that,a brilliant child chorus. The last time i loved a child sung song was EK SCHOOL BANANA HAI from CHILLAR PARTY.this one will stay in my playlist for a long long time. Whats with the sudden trends of lullabies? First a lori in rowdy rathore, and now GOOD NIGHT. Sung by priyani vani pandit, this is a simple song, wit simple lyrics and well sung. Worked for me. RUSY'S THEME is one of the finest instrumental tracks i've heard this year. Brilliant guitar rifts, this one plays with the same tune as GOODNIGHT, but the result is superb. Reminded me of the guitar background of BEHKE BEHKE in aisha. VVC and SHAAN is a deadly combo. first it was CHANDA MAMU in MUNNABHAI MBBS. Then BEHTI HAWA in 3 IDIOTS. And now CHAL GHOOME. Clearly this song is superhit material. An out and out fun track, this reminds of chunni babu of devdas- fa se ferrari. Sa se sawaari:-) and believe me, shaan laps up the song completely. His singing is flawless, with just the right mix of melody and naughty-ness. Boman irani credited as singer in this song?? Where?? I didnt hear him. I have always been a fan of some of pritam's low-on-publicity works, like KUCH LOVE JAISA, TOH BAAT PAKKI, HATTRICK AND JUST MARRIED. This one is another one of them. Low on hype, but high on quality. It has just the right ingredients for such a fun-looking film. Wish pritam delivers more such soundtracks. VVC's gamble has definitely worked. Do listen to this one!

BARFI! - MY THOUGHTS (A PICTORIAL RECOLLECTION)

Indian cinema has always had a strong desire to portray disabilities on screen. While 99% of such films are dull and message oriented, there are a few directors who prove that such people don’t always mean gloom. And so we have Anurag Basu taking us in the life of Murphy. For three hours he transports us into a world which is literally a fairy tale. Such is the beauty of the final product that I actually felt like not leaving the cinema hall; staying a little more in Barfi and Jhilmil’s world. Have you ever felt irritated by the beginning credits of a film? The ones which go like – “Special thanks to…”, “Media partners”, “Publicity partners“, and the names of thousand other brands which might have played a miniscule role in the film? But in Barfi, you never realize when all that finished. Reason? “PICTURE SHURUUUU…. HO GAYI PICTURE SHURU….” This was innovation at its cinematic best. Swanand Kirkire’s witty and apt lines in his own voice make us rapt with attent...

MY REVIEW OF MIRZAPUR SEASON 2

I was a late entrant into the "Mirzapur" weries. Even though it arrived 2 years back, I watched it only a couple of months back during the lockdown. I finally gave in to the immense pressure around, and I couldn’t resist seeing what was so great about the show which led it to become the most successful series in India. And hence, I started watching the first episode of season 1. Shuru majboori mein kiye they, par baad mein jo majaa aaya, I can't describe that. I realized that the hype around the show was totally justified. Also, the makers ended season 1 on such a cliffhanger that it was imperative for everyone to wait so eagerly for season 2. PLOT, DIRECTION & WRITING As I started watching season 2,I slowly realized a few things. This season was way different from the previous one. Gone was the rawness and loudness. The amount of violence shown also seemed much less. Things seemed much more mature. My thoughts were only strengthened as I progressed further.  Season 2...
